My class in my high school is of 762 students, when a certain teacher asked us questions, some raised up their hands and answered even though they gave a wrong answer.
Another series of questions from this teacher again, these sets of students lifted their hands in the air to answer until the teacher was annoyed and say “Are they the only one in my class, you Morons!”
I was among the morons sitting, the majority of us; the morons knew it, but we never raised our hands.
During the examination, these students submitted first not exceeding the stipulated paper time but we morons were there sitting until the last second.
Guess what; when the results came out, we got more grades than the hyperactive students in the class that were answering questions and submitting before the usual time.
I could remember our teacher said “hmm!, empty barrel makes the most noise” There’s a reason for that.
As a parent, you might have kids, one outspoken and the other one a shy type. If you have a family party and tell them “Jane and Ann, it’s time to dance!, dance!!, dance!!!”.
One of them might happily spring up and start twisting on the dance floor, while the other one out of fear rushes into her room and shut the door. There is a reason for that.
I selected my students years ago in a new session after accessing them based on their examination performance in the previous academic session.
I asked them to debate on a topic from the examination they wrote, five students that scored 70 – 80% in their exam did wonderfully brilliant, but there was a certain student that couldn’t utter a word.
She was completely mute, and this girl scored 96% in the same examination. There is a reason for that.
